Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has announced the cast of Jagun Jagun 2, bringing together returning Nollywood stars and new additions from acting, music and comedy.
The filmmaker revealed the lineup through a video shared on his social media platforms on Friday, 16 October 2026.
Among the announced additions are actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, Fuji musicians Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam 1, and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, alongside comedian Cute Abiola.
The announcement follows the unveiling of the film’s release date. According to Voice of Nigeria, Adebayo said the sequel would arrive exclusively on Netflix on 4 December 2026, accompanied by a teaser offering an early glimpse of the production.
FAMILIAR FACES RETURN.
Several actors associated with the original film also feature in the sequel’s announced lineup. They include Lateef Adedimeji, Bimbo Ademoye, Bukunmi Oluwashina, Odunlade Adekola and Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele.
Other returning names reported by Premium Times include Fathia Balogun, Adebayo Salami, Muyiwa Ademola, Yinka Quadri and Dele Odule. Their involvement connects the new production with the ensemble that helped establish the first film’s fictional world.
The combination of established screen performers, Fuji musicians and comedy personalities gives the sequel a cast drawn from different parts of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
However, the reports reviewed do not fully explain the characters the new additions will portray or how their stories will connect.
ADEBAYO PRAISES HIS CAST.
Speaking about the production, Adebayo emphasised the importance of performers who could make fictional characters convincing.
“This cast understood the assignment,” he said in the statement.
He described a working process involving rehearsals, repeated takes, laughter and unexpected moments. According to the filmmaker, the actors contributed different emotional qualities that helped bring the story together. His comments suggest that performance and character development were central concerns during production.
A PRODUCTION BUILT ON SACRIFICE.
The release announcement also offered insight into Adebayo’s personal experience making the sequel.
Voice of Nigeria reported that the filmmaker reflected emotionally on the sacrifices, challenges, and lessons behind the project.
He described the preceding two years as a demanding period of work before announcing that the film was ready.
The announcement came shortly after the opening of his Euphoria360 Hub, a production and post-production facility in Oregun, Lagos.
Together, the developments mark an expansion of his work as both a filmmaker and an investor in filmmaking infrastructure.
BACKGROUND TO THE ORIGINAL FILM.
The first Jagun Jagun premiered on Netflix on 10 August 2023 and was directed by Tope Adebayo and Adebayo Tijani.
Its story follows the powerful warlord Ogundiji and a young fighter, Gbotija, whose growing abilities threaten the older warrior’s authority. The conflict places ambition, control, and the struggle for power at the centre of the narrative.
The production subsequently earned industry recognition. Premium Times reported that it won Best Indigenous Language Movie for West Africa and Best Costume Design at the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
It also received three Africa Movie Academy Awards, including a supporting actor award for Femi Adebayo.
With its release date announced and an expanded cast unveiled, Jagun Jagun 2 now moves towards its December premiere.
The next major question is how Adebayo will develop the world established in the original while giving its new performers meaningful places in the story.
